The Ndume GM40 PTOdriven Hammer Mill is mounted on an allsteel, heavyduty frame. On the same frame are also mounted the cyclone and the PTO driven shaft and pulley. The frame has three point linkage attachment pins for ease of moving the unit from place to place.
We used flat belts to run a hammer mill when I was kid. We used a single twist to change the direction, but no belt dressing. The pulley on the hammer mill had a slight crown in the middle. The tractor was about 20 feet from the hammer mill, making the belt about 40 foot long. It was easy to set up and stayed on real well.

Mounted it to an old 1 row cultivator frame, used and old pto shaft and made a short shaft to connect the gear box to the pto shaft. I have ran a hammer mill and an corn sheller for years with it. I demonstrate a hammer mill at tractor shows that is twice the size of that 1a belt driven by a 85hp flat head Ford v8. I have a book on a tenc I would sell cheap if you wanted it. although the componets inside the mills pretty much look the same I don't know what parts will interchange between models. hope this helps, dennis
I know the hammer mills on mix mills have approximately a 24" driver pulley and a 6" driven pulley to run the mill. Thats a pretty good increase in speed to run it. The mill was powered by my W4 McCormack IH tractors belt pulley. So my mill ran by a flat belt, not pto. And it took about all the power my W4 had. I think the W4 was right around a 30hp farm tractor. Mine was a 1953 model. There are several short line manufacturing companies that will make/sell new screens for old hammer mills
